Ethical and Sustainable Elephant Sanctuary in Chiang Mai, Thailand

Elephant Jungle Sanctuary - Chiang Mai, Thailand

Back in early 2020 I had the privilege and pleasure of traveling to Thailand. My partner and I toured Bangkok, Phuket, Railay Beach, Krabi, and our favorite city in Thailand: Chiang Mai.

One of the things we wanted to see in during our time in Chiang Mai were the elephants. When we were doing our research about which elephant sanctuary to visit, we were looking for the most ethical and eco friendly options, which led us to Elephant Jungle Sanctuary.

If you're looking for an ethical and sustainable way to see elephants while traveling through Thailand, then consider this eco-tourism project:

Elephant Jungle Sanctuary - Chiang Mai, Thailand

They provided us the following:

  • transportation to and from our hotel to the sanctuary

  • a full lunch meal (which was delicious)

  • quick education & information talks to learn about the sanctuary and their elephants

  • food to hand feed the elephants

  • a walk to a distant watering hole where we all got in the water to help wash the elephants

  • many photo opportunities

This day spent with the elephants was truly an amazing day!
