First, What is MagMod?

MagMod is a new kind of flash modifier system. Unlike other light modifying systems, MagMod is compact, strong, and easy to use. Their Basic Kit is basically a starter pack. In addition to the Basic Kit, all you'll need to get started is your own flash. One of the things that makes this kit so versatile is that the modifiers are made to work with almost any hot-shoe flash in the industry. Unlike other light modifiers, MagMod is made out of silicone, which makes their products durable and unlikely to break. Instead of carrying around bags and bags of primitive and clunky modifiers, MagMod is lightweight and compact.

The MagMod Basic Kit Includes:

  • MagGrip- The universal hot-shoe flash adaptor made of silicone and magnets

  • MagGrid- Grid modifier which focuses your flash's light into a 40 degree beam, MagGrid helps give your light direction and prevent spill

  • MagGel- Gel modifier designed to hold up to three MagMod brand gels at one time

  • Standard Gel Set- The basic kit includes MagMod's standard color-correcting gel set

  • Transmitter Band- Silicone band designed to hold remote radios/transmitters

  • Carrying Pouch-Cloth bag to help keep everything together

As you'll see, I go through each piece, demonstrating how to install and attach these modifiers. Towards the end of the video, I give an example as to how you can use these modifiers together. I break down a self portrait to demonstrate how I achieved the lighting by using only the modifiers in the Basic Kit.

Overall, I would recommend MagMod's Basic Kit to any photographer! Whether you're a seasoned light controlling wizard or if you're looking to get started using flashes and want to learn how to start modifying your light, this Basic Kit would be a great piece to add to your collection of equipment.
